Google Nexus S’ Trip to Space Experience
You have two options to pick, believe it or not, to decide whether or not Android devices are awesome. A few days ago you may have been informed that Google decided to test the limits of Nexus S phones and their sensors by sending them into orbit. How did the project go?
There were seven phones to send and all of their power of GPS, gyroscope, accelerometer and magnometer were tested. The custom-made applications like Google Maps and Google Sky Map were activated to see if the stars looked different when it captured much closer.
The results are truly awesome! The seven phones could work at temperatures reaching minus 50 degree Celsius, while the GPS chip was able to track the phone’s location up to 60,000 feet. All the balloons were recovered once they landed, and it is reported as pretty impressive. They reached heights of over 100,000 feet and traveled at up to 139mph at the top of their flight.
