How to Back Up Your Phonebook Contacts to HTC Desire microSD

Main worry about losing phone is not only about you lost your gadget; it’s your long list of contact which u may have built over the years. Or you losing your contact when your phone has to perform hard reset or hot flash and in many way you can imagine.

You don’t want to lose touch with people we want to keep in contact, friends, family, co-worker, so you need to back up the contacts on the device.

If you are HTC Desire user, you can easily import your contact to its storage card in three steps:

1. Press HOME, and then tap 11

2. Press MENU, and then tap Import/Export > Export to SD card.

3. When asked to confirm, tap OK.

      WHAT!?!?!?!?
      There is NO Import/export in the Menu…
      What phone are you using?????
      What network????
      What country are you in???

      Me – HTC Desire – Telstra – Australia.
      Just had the phone repaired with a new m/board and latest firmware. NO SUCH SETTING IN THE MENU!!!!!!!!!!! NO SUCH SETTING IN THE LeeDroid VERSION EITHER!!!!!
      Does ANYBODY know how to restore using HTC Sync??? Even HTC cant tell me!!!!!! THEY dont even know whats in the menus…..

      You need to select PEOPLE from your menu and then follow the above instruction. It works perfectly fine!

      Search for UIA backup contacts in the Android marketplace, it will back up your contacts to a .csv-file and you’ll be able to back it up to e.g. gmail.

      I tried this on a HTC WildFire ADR6225

      This really work, just press the menu button when you are at you contacts.
      then follow Jayson instructions.

      Yes it works, but if you lose your phone, you also lose your SD card!

      You need to regularly back up your SD card contents on to your computer. When you plug the USB cable into the computer you’ll get the Connect to PC screen. You need to select the Disk Drive option.

      You phone SD card will then be recognised like any other USB drive and you can transfer everything on it to a folder on your computer.
