The successor to Microsoft’s Windows Mobile phone OS lineup is called Windows Phone 7. It’s derived from the Windows CE 6 core, similar to the Zune HD, whilst present versions of Windows Mobile are derived from Windows CE 5. Microsoft publicized the new OS, and pronounces that the first phones to operate it should be launched in the next holiday shopping season of this year.
