Rooting Your MyTouch 4G
Follow these instructions below:
First, download these two files:

Second, here are the md5sums for the modules and hboot:
fdab3657e34c6901dce2d38eb9fb71d8 /data/local/wpx.ko
df4fd77f44993eb05a4732210d2eddc6 /data/local/hboot_dhd.nb0
Third, fire up the device and run visionary.
Fourth, adb push the two files on the device:
adb push wpx.ko /data/local and adb push hboot_dhd.nb0 /data/local
Fifth, open a terminal or thru adb shell and gain root (su + enter).
Sixth, type insmod /data/local/wpx.ko and press enter.
Seventh, an error stating “function not implemented” will appear.
Eighth, Type
dd if=/data/local/hboot_dhd.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
and enter.
Ninth, run VISIONary again to lock in root.
Tenth, fire your terminal back up and type sync, and then press enter.
Eleventh, run visionary again and reboot again.
